What is Turtlevania Games?
Founded in 2022, Turtlevania Games began with a simple idea: a game about a turtle.
That small project sparked something bigger—a love for game development and a desire to build meaningful, memorable experiences. What started as a lighthearted experiment evolved over time into something far more ambitious: Tyro: Legend of Whisperwood, a story-rich game set in a mysterious, hand-crafted world filled with heart, danger, and discovery.

Turtlevania Games was founded by two friends: one with expertise in software development and the other in storytelling. Inspired by the magic of indie games, they set out to create experiences that combine fun, engaging gameplay with rich, immersive narratives and unforgettable characters.
The name Turtlevania reflects our love for classic -vania style games and our mascot (Billie the turtle).

Their current project, Tyro: Legend of Whisperwood, is a beautifully illustrated Metroidvania that blends exploration, puzzle-solving, and meaningful choices that shape the player’s journey.
Who is Turtlevania Games?
Turtlevania Games is an indie studio started by two best friends, Brandon and Andrew, who love creating story-driven games with heart, humor, and unforgettable characters.
What is a playable Alpha?
A playable alpha is an early, in-development version of a game. It gives players a preview of core ideas before all features are complete. The alpha for Tyro: Legend of Whisperwood offers a glimpse at the beginning of the journey, but doesn’t include the sanity system or dialogue choices. A more complete demo is planned for release in 2026.
Is the Tyro comic part of the game’s story?
Yes! The Tyro comic explores an earlier adventure in the Whisperwood universe and expands on Tyro’s backstory. While it’s not required to enjoy the game, it offers extra context and insight into the world and characters.
